Jeppa Joes food cart is owned and operated by myself, Jeff Steckel. I received a culinary degree from Le Cordon Bleu in Scottsdale, AZ in 1999. After a short stint cooking in New York, I returned to Wisconsin and became executive chef at the Blue Marlin Restaurant in Madison. After 5 years in Madison, I became restless and was eager to travel. I moved to South Korea as an English teacher, but ultimately became a student of their cuisine. When my teaching contract expired, I spent several months traveling through China, Vietnam, Cambodia, Laos, Thailand, and the Philippines. This time spent in Southeast Asia, taking in the lively street food scene, shaped the foundation for what became Jeppa Joes.
Here are some things I believe in when it comes to food: use the freshest available ingredients (local when possible); use whole foods (no processed or pre-cooked food); bold flavors; good value (no wimpy portion sizes); and most importantly cook with love…I love what I am doing and I hope you love the results!
